Emily Hurley

Emily Hurley, MS, CCC-SLP, ATP
Augmentative Communication Specialist

Emily is an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) services for individuals whose natural speech does not meet their communication needs. Emily received her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the Pennsylvania State University. While at Penn State, she received specialized training in AAC and assisted in NIDIRR-funded research looking into the effectiveness and efficiency of different AAC systems.

Her professional experience includes working with adults and children with significant communication disorders in schools, hospitals and in the community. She also has extensive experience working with individuals with Autism, including training preschoolers with autism to use augmentative communication. Emily delivers augmentative communication services, supports and training to consumers and professionals in the community. These services include community-based augmentative communication assessments for adults and children, technical assistance, and training to professionals regarding the nature and scope of augmentative communication.
